Let me share again about one of those who has been serving for many years and whom we consider one of our own: Cornel Fogoroșiu.
He serves in the villages of Nou and Hașag, which belong to the commune of Roșia. Together with his wife, he is faithfully doing the Lord’s work, investing in people and equipping brothers and sisters to become more like the Lord Jesus.
Both Nou and Hașag have their own particularities. Though close to each other, they differ culturally, especially because the population includes not only Romanians but also Roma. Like many other places in Romania, these villages face the challenge of young people migrating to Western Europe in search of work and a better life. As a result, families that were once poor have managed to raise their living standards through the support of those working abroad. Sadly, this has not also brought growth in spiritual life. In this area, challenges remain many, and the service of a missionary is not always easy.
Brother Cornel and his wife show their care through dedication both to adults and to children from both communities. For many years, Brother Cornel taught religion classes in school with the approval of the principal. This gave him the opportunity not only to clearly share the Gospel but also to sow in the hearts and minds of children the teachings and values of the Christian faith.
As a man of God, prayer and daily Bible study are central to his personal life, both for his own growth in Scripture and for preparing the teachings and messages he brings before those he serves. He shared with me that he takes special joy in memorizing verses, passages, and even entire books of the Bible. This discipline has earned him admiration among fellow missionaries and makes him an example for us all.
Family also holds an important place in his life. Although their children are grown, they still enjoy spending time together, especially on Sundays when the family gathers for fellowship.
In his ministry, Brother Cornel is faithfully supported by his wife—both in visiting families and in the work with children and with the women of the church. As he put it: “Together, things are always better.” Sister Nuți added: “We prepare special events, we pray for the sisters, we celebrate the milestones in the lives of believers, and we usually give a small gift to those honored on such occasions, whether in their personal lives or families.”
In serving the churches, every meeting in both villages requires special care. Sundays, Wednesday evenings, and Fridays are spent in church, learning from the Word, worshiping through song, and serving different age groups. “We also encourage and support the worship teams in Nou, and especially those who preach in the churches, since in 2025 we have set aside special time for preacher training. We also plan to hold a retreat for families and, if possible, a camp for the women to enjoy a special time together.”
The children, too, were not forgotten—at the end of July they enjoyed a Vacation Bible School.
The brothers expressed their gratitude to the Lord that the churches themselves strive to cover most of the expenses for such events. At the same time, the Association “Partners in International Evangelism” has been present, supporting part of the costs as well.
A great desire and prayer of Brother Cornel is that the Lord would raise up new workers, especially someone who could one day continue and carry forward this ministry. This is a beautiful and biblical desire, and I would like to invite you, dear readers, to join in this prayer before the Lord.
I am thankful for the families who are making efforts to serve together, and especially for those who are actively involved in ministry. Another reason for gratitude is the willingness of brothers to serve alongside him, and the good cooperation that results.
Brother Cornel also prays for the churches to be more open to serving outside the walls of the building—among the people of the villages. The good testimony of the believers before those who are not yet saved is in itself an effective framework for sharing the Gospel.
I stand alongside Brother Cornel and his wife in all this work, and I pray together with you that the Lord’s blessing may accompany every good thing they do—for His glory and for the salvation of people.
With the assurance that you desire to be actively involved in the work in Romania, I invite you to continue praying for us, for this mission, and for the ministries carried out by missionaries in the 28 localities where we serve—including now in the Craiova Penitentiary, where special work is done with young people. Like you, we long for fruit—so greatly needed to bring encouragement to all.
And beyond simply reading these words, I warmly invite you to consider joining a short-term mission team, working alongside us here, seeing firsthand how ministry is carried out, and enriching one another with the gifts God has given us all.
Be blessed in the name of the Lord Jesus!
