Marian Asan

Be blessed by the Lord,

A long time ago, the Lord Jesus said, “You will always have the poor with you…” I could say that the apostles had their poor, each nation has its own poor, and Partners in Evangelism International (PIEI), as a Christian organization, has its own poor as well.

We always remember that wherever we serve as missionaries, we must not forget those who are marginalized, those who have far less than we do. We are called to care for them, providing for their basic needs—help, food, clothing—and beyond this Christian care, we also offer them the Gospel.

Today, I want to introduce you to Marian Asan, a 37-year-old young man who grew up in an orphanage and, through God’s providence, came into contact with PIEI in Romania.

A few years ago, through grace and that same divine providence, Partners in Evangelism International received a donation—a property with land and a building—intended to further the vision of the Hope for Podari organization: a vision of making disciples and caring for those in need.

Sharing a common vision, we committed ourselves to continue this work, and that is exactly what we are doing!

Along with the gift received, we also took on the responsibility of caring for one of the association’s beneficiaries—Marian. For almost three years now, he has been under our care and attention, supported both financially by PIEI and personally by me, as National Director, and by my wife, Marilena.

Due to a mild mental disability, Marian has been unable to secure a job that would provide him with the financial means for his personal upkeep. As a result, the competent institutions have granted him a status that entitles him to a monthly allowance from the Romanian State of 87 lei (a little over $20).

Although we have tried to find him a job, so far, we have not succeeded.

However, good news arrived in May. After continuous efforts for his well-being, Marian now has an ID card with a new location in the city of Victoria. He is also registered with the institution responsible for assisting those seeking employment, which gives him the right to a monthly social protection income of 360 lei (approximately $70).

At the same time, seeing his willingness to change, to work, and to learn, I am working with Marian to develop skills in growing vegetables and greens, which will help him become self-sufficient.

Please pray that the Lord will grant him:

            •          Wisdom and strength to work.

            •          Confidence in his ability to succeed.

            •          Opportunities to market his produce.

But more than that, may the Lord work in his heart and mind, helping him to repent and believe in the Lord Jesus.

Thank you for keeping Marian in your prayers, as well as the missionary work of PIEI.

May the Lord be with you and all of yours!

Timotei Stinea - PIEI Romania National Director
