“Always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
(Ephesians 5:20)
Dear Partners in Evangelism,
Sunday, September 27, was a special day for the Christian community in Ponorel, Alba County, Romania.
Around 50 people, both believers and unbelievers, attended this special Thanksgiving celebration.
I led the time of prayer based on Psalm 103, giving thanks and blessing God for all the benefits and blessings that each of us has received from Him up to this day. The greatest blessing of all is the salvation we have received through the sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Afterward, we had a wonderful time of praise through poems and songs presented by members of the local church, as well as by a group of singers who came as our guests from Gura Roșiei. Following this time of worship, Brother Horea Opruța shared several thoughts of thanksgiving before God.
In the final part of the service, our special guest, Pastor Derege from Ethiopia, brought a very meaningful message about giving thanks to God through the Lord Jesus. His message was based on Luke 17:11–19, the account of the ten lepers who were healed, but only one returned to give thanks.
Throughout the message, I could see people listening very attentively, nodding in agreement and responding with strong “Amen!”
It was a beautiful time of drawing closer to God as Father and to the Lord Jesus as Savior. We could truly sense the presence and power of the Holy Spirit among us.

At the end of the gathering, the ladies from the local church prepared a fellowship meal for everyone who attended. They served sandwiches, cakes, doughnuts, mineral water, tea, and soft drinks.
This time of fellowship is a great “bridge” of connection with those who do not yet believe, while also helping believers build deeper relationships and strengthen their partnership in serving the Lord together.
Please Join Us in Prayer
* Please pray for Mrs. Iulica and Mrs. Viorica, who are not believers and were unable to join us for this celebration because of health problems.
* Please pray for Mrs. Ileana, who is not yet a believer. She loves our church, but she faces strong opposition from her unbelieving family.
* Please pray for the Thanksgiving celebration at the church in Sohodol, which will take place on October 18 at 10:00 a.m.
* Please pray for a discipleship program for the younger families in the Ponorel church, which we hope to begin during the winter months.
May grace and peace be multiplied to you!
We deeply appreciate your faithful prayers and your generosity in supporting the work of the Gospel. Please receive our love and Christian greetings in the Lord Jesus.
With love in Christ,
Florin Botar - PIEI Romania Missionary
