As I mentioned before, by the grace of God we have begun a new ministry in Alba Iulia. At first, we met in a larger room at the Reverb Academy, where some of our church members work. In the beginning, we were a small group — about 25 people. But God is faithful, and as we said, if it is His plan for this ministry to exist and move forward in the local community, then He is the One who provides the resources, and the work will surely be blessed.
We have already been blessed abundantly — at our second meeting, there were around 60 people present. About 40% of those who joined us for worship that Sunday were non-believers, people who had received our invitation through social media.
During this time, our core team has been meeting twice a week — once with the worship team, once with the men from the leadership group, and another weekly meeting with the media team, which takes care of online promotion of the Sunday messages and of the ministry itself. These meetings have taken place in private homes, at the PIEI Center in Alba, and once, for fellowship and team building, at the PIEI Romania Vacation House.
At present, we have rented a public venue where, every Saturday evening, we set up everything needed for the Sunday services, and then after each worship service on Sunday, we take everything down again. We clearly see how God blesses each person’s obedience, and as one of our team members said, it is fascinating to see young people offering themselves in service to God — sacrificing their time and energy and making themselves available.
Last month, after a time of prayer and fasting, we felt led by God to choose a name for this new ministry: Momentum Church. Our pastor, John Dura made the annoucement.
I love what John writes in his Gospel, chapter 19:30, about that momentum when the Lord Jesus was on the cross between the two thieves, and He cried out: “It is finished!” The Greek word used there is “tetelestai,” which comes from the verb teleo, meaning “to bring to completion” or “to pay in full.”
The word tetelestai, spoken by Jesus, describes that decisive moment, the moment of complete fulfillment — that unique momentum in the history of salvation.
From that inspiration, our initiative team began preparing for the online promotion of the ministry under the new name. We started to make ourselves known as a local church, promoting the ministry in such a way that, over the course of five weeks, we have consistently had between 50 and 78 people attending — coming together for worship, fellowship, and to experience God’s presence in this setting.
We are full of enthusiasm for what God is doing and deeply grateful to see new faces from the city joining us — some for the first time, and others returning week after week to worship with us.
I want to thank you sincerely for your prayer and support.
Please continue to pray for people — for their hearts, their struggles, and their freedom. The enemy seeks to keep people bound, but where the Spirit of the Lord is, according to His Word, there is freedom and deliverance. During our worship services, we dedicate special time to praying with people who have various needs, and we can truly see God touching hearts. We are deeply thankful for this.
Therefore, I encourage you to keep praying for us.
At the end of this month, we will celebrate the Lord’s Supper for the first time as part of this new ministry. Please pray for this special occasion — that each of us would examine our hearts, recognize our condition, and renew our dependence on God.
We also pray that God will bless each of you in the ministry and service He has entrusted to you.
With holy love,
Mike Dima - PIEI Romania Secretary
