ABOUT ME
INTRODUCTION
My name is Moldovan Ionatan, I live in Bazna, Sibiu County, I am 44 years old, I have been married since 2005 to Diana and God has blessed us with 3 wonderful boys: Ionatan Junior 19 years old, Iosua 15 years old and Matei 14 years old. Since 2005 I have been serving in pastoral work and my wife has been a kindergarten teacher for 18 years.
CONVERSION AND THE BEGINNINGS OF A LIFE OF FAITH
I returned to the Lord in 1999 and I was baptized in water in 2000. I grew up in a Christian environment as a child, after which my father and grandfather distanced themselves from the Lord until the end of their lives when they both returned to the walk of Faith.
As a child I felt a closeness to the Lord, and prayer and the Bible were part of my daily life. From the age of 5, I had a fear of death that disappeared only in adolescence when I began to have a closer relationship with the Lord Jesus.
THE CALL AND THE BEGINNINGS OF MINISTRY
I felt the call to ministry since my adolescence when the Lord spoke to me and I wrote short sermons. Although I did not go to church meetings, I was to be baptized after I finished high school. Although I was baptized in the Pentecostal church in Bazna, my spiritual life also included meetings in the Baptist context, especially youth camps and meetings with teams from abroad who came to the village at the Baptist church.
Later, at the theological seminary, I had professors from the Baptist Faculty of Theology and pastors from Baptist churches in Bucharest, such as brother Bunaciu.
After baptism, being the only young man in the Pentecostal church, the brothers encouraged me to give exhortations to prayer and then to preach short messages. Soon there were enough young people in the church that I was appointed youth leader. Later, the church planted another church in Blajel, a village 4 km away, and a brother from the committee and I were appointed responsible for the ministry there.
FORMATION AND INVOLVEMENT IN PASTORAL WORK
During this time, the Lord spoke to me about the fact that I need to prepare myself more for the pastoral work to which I am called. As a result, in 2003, I began the theological seminary courses in Bucharest.
I graduated in 2006 (I chose to do the 3rd and 4th year courses in a single year of study). My bachelor's degree in theology is from the University of Bucharest through the Faculty of Baptist Theology because they had accreditation at that time.
During the faculty I was the university chaplain for 2 years and I served in the Harul church in Bucharest. Although the plan was to serve at least 2 more years there as an apprenticeship - and my wife did the pedagogical courses in Bucharest, living together for 1 year or so in the rented Baptist home - we returned to Bazna in 2006 serving in the Părtășia Vieșii Creștine church which at that time broke away from the Maranata Baptist church in Bazna. Until 3 years ago I served there, and currently we want together with the Bethel Baptist Church in Mediaș to restart the work of the Maranata church in Bazna.
In all these 20 years of service I have not been an employee of the church, but only a volunteer being responsible for my own financial support. Until December 2024, a church in Sweden with which I was in partnership supported me financially month by month. Now they can no longer do this, and I am in a period of transition. My desire is to be able to continue serving in the church as a full-time worker, because I am convinced that the worker is worthy of his pay and those who preach the gospel, live from it. Finding another job for me would mean abandoning the work of the Lord. I hope that the Lord will take care of it. As for the work, over time I have served in youth ministry, preaching the Gospel both on the street and in the Church, I led worship for a while, pastoral work being the center of my calling.
VISION FOR THE FUTURE
I have a heart for the unsaved and disadvantaged, currently we work with a Roma community in Blăjel. I want a mature church that will have an impact on society in its various fields. Currently we are about to restart the work of the Maranatha church in Bazna and with the Lord's help we will start some projects such as evangelism, after-school in partnership with the Bazna school and some social projects with people from disadvantaged backgrounds.
There is immense potential in the work with youth and children and I believe that the Lord will use us as a family for this.
There would be many things to say. If you have any questions, I would be more than happy to answer them. May the Lord bless you!
In Christ,
Ionatan Moldovan
