The fast-growing churches with which we work here are made up largely of converts from Hinduism and Islam. As soon as a church is established in the Association of Bible Churches in Guyana, it reaches out to start a sister church.
National director for Guyana, Andy Girwarnauth, is a native of Guyana and established this ministry. In 1979, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, he was introduced to Jesus Christ by Rev. Tom Randall of Greenview Baptist Church. In 1982, God brought Kathleen into his life. They have three children: Naomi, Jennie, and Sam, who live in the U.S. while their parents serve in Guyana. Dear Praying Friends,
Warm greetings from your missionaries in Guyana! We are back in the groove again of ministry, after a short “home assignment” in the US. We returned with our son Sam and his friend Alex in tow. We have enjoyed their youthful enthusiasm and fresh perspective on life here. It has been 4 years since Sam was able to visit, due to his university studies. (see Sam’s graduation picture attached). Soon we will say good-bye to them, however, as they both return to MI on June 26. Once again, we are so grateful for those who remember our family in prayer. We are especially grateful that they all love the Lord and desire to serve Him where they are. It is not easy being separated by so many miles, but we know God is watching over our children and grandchildren.
This has been a special time of celebration for many in the Association of Bible Churches. On June 11, over 200 people crowded into the Fyrish Bible Church to attend the 3rd graduation ceremony of the Berbice Bible Institute and Solid Rock Theological Seminary in Guyana. Guests arrived from the US, St. Lucia, and Trinidad for this event, many of whom graduated as well. In all, 21 men and women graduated with various degrees, from Associates on up to Doctor of Ministry. In addition to the graduates, there was a ceremony of ordination for three of our men: Rajendra Latcha, Ryan Manpowan, and Robert Laloo.
